23. SEQUOIA & KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK
These areas are home to the largest plant on the planet, the giant
Sequoia. Kings Canyon is a Wilderness park where my parents introduced
me to the High Sierras in the 1940s. Later, I took my own son, Marc,
on scrambles up Mounts Sill and Tyndall for their dramatic toprock
landscape.
